Centrally located, in the area called “SEAFOOD BANK”, a leisurearea par excellence and only 10 minutes from the beach. The building occupies the spot where formerly stood a women´sPrision, until its clousure and demolition in the 1970´s. The square itself is stillknown as “Prision Square” ( Plaza de la Cárcel ). In 1983,this old prision was pulled down to build “ LOS CANTAROS HOTEL***”. Los Cantaros means earthenware and the Hotel takes its name fromearthenware Jugs dating back to XVII century, found in the subsoil of the old prisiontoday, these jugs are displayed in the “Town Museum” and some are on display in thehotel reception. Today the “Prision Square” has been preserved and one of its formernumerous fountains built in 1.839 can still be viewed by the visitor. It has four tapsconstructed with Tarifa slads, Algecira Bluestone, bricks of Seville and calcareoussand from the nearby San Cristobal mountains. The Hotel has 39 double rooms, all with bath, hairdresser, TV, telephone, minibar, air-conditioning., heating, Wi.Fi and room service.
