Chocolate is a symbol of Belgium and one of the most popular exported goods. There is over 2,000 chocolate shops in Belgium itself. Although producing a wide range of chocolates, the most recognisable are definitely pralines - beautifully sculpted chocolate shell concealing a centre of delicious filling.
Recipe: Gourmet Belgian Hot Chocolate
4 cups milk
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
200 grammes bittersweet chocolate, preferably callebaut, chopped into small pieces
Mix the vanilla and milk in a saucepan. Heat the milk until you'll see bubbles at the edge of a saucepan. Add chocolate pieces and reduce heat. Stir occasionally until melted. Remove the vanilla beans. If the mixture is too thick, add some milk.
