Blauer Stern fan club brings derby classic HSV against Hannover 96 to Obernkirchen
RUSBEND. As befits a milestone birthday, there is also a big party: the HSV fan club Blauer Stern Schaumburg is celebrating its 20th birthday, the traditional Hanseatic team is coming to Obernkirchen to toast. Since a good game also requires a strong opponent, the Allstars from Hannover 96 have agreed to round off the football festival in the mountain town. The derby between the big and the small HSV takes place on Saturday, July 9, from 4 p.m. in the Kammweg stadium and is the highlight of a sports and family festival at the Blue Star.

“We hope that we will fill the stadium with the derby classic as well as we did in 2003, when the HSV pros were our guests,” says Uwe Rennekamp, who chairs the fan club. At that time there were almost 4500 spectators in the stadium. Whether the proud number will be reached again depends on the one hand on who wears the jerseys of the traditional clubs on the day of the match, and on the other hand on how successfully the Hamburg pros will play in the next few weeks.
The return to the Bundesliga was quickly postponed by a year, HSV fans (“Love knows no league”) are used to grief. “But if we should actually win the DFB Cup, the hut will be full,” Andreas Witt. The man should know, after all he is one of the Hamburger fan representatives.
The Schaumburgers get to see a first edition, because neither Jürgen Ahlert, who is responsible for the traditional team at HSV, nor his 96 supporter Frank Obermeyer can’t remember ever having played against each other at the Feldstadion.
Mehdi Mahdavikia would love to do every game
There certainly won’t be a lack of a strong and well-known name on the pitch. Richard Golz, Stefan Schnoor or Ingo Hertzsch are often there. “Mehdi Mahdavikia would like to play every game, but is not always available as a youth coach,” says Ahlert. Former national player Benjamin Lauth has also been playing for the Hamburg Allstars for some time.
Obermeyer countered this with names like Altin Lala, Christoph Dabrowski, Thomas Brdaric, Fabian Ernst and Günter “Jimmy” Hermann, the former Stadthäger and world champion of 1990. But there are overlaps, like Martin Groth, who has also played for Hamburg. “He loves you, but he’s attached to my team – and won’t score a goal either,” says Obermeyer in direction of Ahlert and has the laughter on his side during the press conference in Rusbender Schäferhof. In the weeks to come, it will become clear who will actually be on the pitch. Both sides talk fun football and numerous goals.
The Blue Star Festival continues on Sunday and offers much more, including – as reported – the HSV football school (from Saturday) for children between the ages of six and 14 will be guests. “There are still a few places left,” says Rennekamp. There is also a diverse supporting program with a fun park and entertainment program. HSV mascot and cafeteria (“at normal prices”).
