Michael Schumacher also talked about football with his former rival
Michael Schumacher was a role model not only in the speeding circus, but also on the football field.
The German racing driver regularly took part in charity matches, where he showed that he not only handles cars, but also the ball masterfully.
During his Mercedes career, Karun Chandhok was also a member of the field, with whom the German maintained a good relationship, writes the Origin.
This is how the 38-year-old Indian driver remembers his conversation with Schumacher before the 2010 Valencia Grand Prix:
“It reminds me of when we saw some of them playing soccer after us, and we started chatting with Michael Schumacher at the pilot parade, during which he was puzzled as to why India does not have a soccer team that belongs to the world elite”
Chandhok wrote on his Instagram page.
Indian football has not improved much since then, the Asian country is only ranked 103rd in the FIFA world rankings and is not even among the best teams on the continent.
Almost 10 years ago, on December 29, 2013, Schumacher suffered serious, life-threatening injuries while skiing in the French Alps.
The 54-year-old Formula 1 legend has been living with his family isolated from the world since his accident, and it is not known exactly what state of health he is in.
