Best 3-star hotels in Switzerland under new management
The Best 3 Star Hotels of Switzerland association, which has existed since 2015, started in 2021 with a new board and a new office.
The hotel group Best 3 Star Hotels of Switzerland and its members used the last year 2020 to prepare for the future. The association, which has been in existence since 2015 and now includes 30 of the best, mostly owner-managed 3-star companies in Switzerland, is starting 2021 with a new board and a new office.
The new president of the group, Lukas Kalbermatten, The owner and host of the Hotel Edelweiss in Lötschental is convinced of the values that define the best 3 star hotels. «In addition to a modern infrastructure and above-average service, the constant and personal presence of the hosts at the front characterizes the establishments. This is very much appreciated by our guests; it is exactly this familiar and relaxed atmosphere of a small or medium-sized hotel that you are looking for. In this sense, we are proud to meet high quality standards and to be a guarantee for continuity », says Kalbermatten.
The hotel group Best 3 Star Hotels of Switzerland was founded on October 1st, 2015 by the tourism marketing company smarket ag and then 7 hoteliers and since then it has united around three dozen of the best three-star hotels in Switzerland. The hotels are and will remain independent and are mostly owner-managed. Most of the regular customers of the members are in their home market, which has benefited many in the current crisis.
A breath of fresh air and a sign of solidarity
Since the beginning of the year he has been leading together with Annalies Biäsch from Hotel Walserhuus in Sertig Davos and Rolf Stucki-Freig from the Hotel Nidwaldnerhof in Beckenried the association. Biäsch holds the function of finance and controlling. In addition, she and two internal auditors are responsible for the fair use of the association’s fees. Stucki will jointly be responsible for the marketing strategy with other hoteliers in the group.
According to the announcement, the primary goal of the new board is to involve the individual member companies more intensively and of course to be prepared for the “restart” after the pandemic. «Our members have a lot of know-how. This should be used even more in the future, respectively the hoteliers should be involved in the processes of the association. In this way we can effectively prepare measures for our members of the mountain and holiday hotel industry as well as for the city and business hotel industry in order to be ready for the time after the pandemic, ”explains the President.
Estimated Bonus Maulus System
Since several members are considering staying in the group for purely economic reasons, they decide to opt for a bonus-malus system for membership fees in 2021, which takes the current situation into account and speaks for solidarity among the members. The association reacted to the great upheavals of the pandemic with the bonus-malus system. At the end of 2020, some members agreed to increase their financial contribution due to the positive business performance of currently weakened members.
This made it possible to reduce the annual fees for some of the hoteliers in 2021. Last but not least, thanks to the relief of the severely affected companies, it was possible to persuade individual members to remain in the group who otherwise would have left the association for financial reasons. “This symbol of community spirit is another strength that distinguishes the best 3-star hotels as a brand,” says Kalbermatten happily.[IMG 2]
