About Mechelen
Mechelen lies in the province of Antwerp, in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. It's situated in the exact middle of the important Brussels-Antwerp axis, 25 km from each of these cities. The town is an esteemed producer of a number of historically famous Flemish goods, such as woolen laken, artistic furniture, tapestries and precious Mechlin lace. The centre of Mechelen boasts several excellent examples of architecture from various epochs, such as the Medieval Schepenhuis, the oldest stone town hall in this part of Europe. Famous residents of the town have included Anne Boleyn, who was the second wife of Henry VIII.
