About Sint-Truiden
Sint-Truiden is situated in the Flemish region of Limburg. Founded in the 7th Century by a nobleman named St. Trudo, it experienced its Golden Age 400 years later when the local monks decided to construct three churches and a system of fortifications in the town. As a result, the population of Sint-Truiden grew rapidly. Commercial links with England, Champagne and Germany were established, and have been the economic basis of the town ever since. In Belgium, Sint-Truiden is known mostly as a temporary place of residence for famous English writer Aldous Huxley, whose wife was a native of the town.
