About Wavre
Capital of the French-speaking Walloon Brabant province of Belgium, Wavre lies on the river Dijle and has a population of about 32,000. It was the site of a battle between Prussian and French forces in June 1815, during the War of the Seventh Coalition – the last of the Napoleonic wars.
Wavre’s best-known landmark is a small statue called Maca in front of the Town Hall. It is believed that touching its buttocks brings good luck. Also worth visiting are the Museum of Living Water Plants, Six Flags Amusement Park and the Aqualibi Aquapark.
