About Nesebar
Nessebar, once known as Messembria, is an ancient settlement on the Bulgarian coast of the Black Sea. Its historical section is located on an island which has been artificially connected to the mainland. There’s plenty of archaelogical evidence for the fact that the area was occupied by a wide variety of cultures in ancient times. Today, Nessebar is known principally as the town with the highest number of churches per resident. Though this information has yet to be officially confirmed, the amount and architectural variety of the temples here remains impressive. The town centre was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
