About Fazana
Lying on the south-western coast of Istria, opposite the Brijuni Islands, the picturesque small town of Fazana is surrounded by pine forests, vineyards and olive groves. Its fine beaches, clear sea, mild Mediterranean climate and lush greenery make it an attractive holiday destination. The roots of its history can be traced back to Roman times, when it was called Vasanium and renowned for its amphorae, vases and tiles. A famous battle between the fleets of Venice and Genoa was fought in the Fazana Strait in 1379. Today, the old town centre is a maze of narrow cobblestone streets and picturesque squares, close-built houses and Medieval churches. The Brijuni (Brioni) Islands make up a national park, famous for its spectacular natural beauty.
