About Porec
A city with 2,000 years of history, Porec lies on the western side of the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia, protected by the small island of Sveti Nikola. Its population of about 12,000 people multiplies nearly ten-fold during the summer months, when hordes of visitors flock here to enjoy the mild climate and the warm waters of the Adriatic Sea. Apart from the spectacular coast lined with exclusive hotels, what certainly adds to the appeal of the area is the town itself, with its Roman cobblestone streets and stately Venetian-style buildings. The region is also famous for its delicious food and local wines, such as Malvazija, Borgonja, and Teran. While in Porec, do not miss out on the UNESCO-protected Euphrasian Basilica, located in the town’s historic centre.
