About Kolding
Kolding is an important Danish harbour situated on the Kolding Fjord. Its economy is based upon the ship-building industry as well as the manufacture of clothing and machinery. The population of 86,000 makes it the seventh-largest city in Denmark. Noteworthy sights include the royal castle of Koldinghus, constructed in the 13th Century and still used today for various official governmental ceremonies. The stone church of St. Nicholas was erected at the same time, and is one of the oldest Danish structures of its kind. The interesting Trapholt Art Museum displays Danish 20th-Century paintings and sculpture.
