About Bordeaux
Most people connect this word with the type of wine, with which the city is famous. Bordeaux wine, a brand which has spread all over the world, has the longest traditions in precincts of the city of Bordeaux - and both the wine and the city have many interesting aspects to explore. The city is sprawled on the two banks of the river Garonne and its citizens are called Bordelais. The city is the administrative capital of the Acquitaine region. Surprisingly enough the city's population is almost one million, and there are only two bridges over the river - the old bridge Pont en Pierre (translated "Bridge of Stone") and a modern one. Probably the reason is that the left bank is much more developed.
