About La Baule
Home of the longest beach of France (over 8 km), La Baule-Escoublac attracts numerous visitors with its mild climate, fine sand and variety of sports and leisure facilities. Destroyed by a violent storm in 1779, the village was promptly rebuilt, and developed into a seaside resort complete with a promenade and an impressive breakwater. Mass tourism in the second half of the 20th Century transformed the bunch of luxury villas surrounded by large parks into a mass of apartment buildings, campsites, family guest houses and attractions for the young at heart.
