The sixth biggest in population in France and the largest city in Pays-de-la-Loire region proves to be the picturesque city of Nantes. It was founded by a Celtic tribe about 100 BC. As we know from history, Celtic names tend to be very stable and persist. The name of this little tribe which established the settlement was "Namnetes" and that's where the name of the city originates from.
