About Poitiers
Poitiers is a picturesque historical town in central France. Its old quarter occupies a plateau surrounded on three sides by streams. The town boasts the oldest church in France, the Baptistere Saint-Jean. First built in the 4th Century, it contains interesting frescoes from the 12th and the 13th Centuries. The Palace of Poitiers, which used to be home to the Dukes of Aquitaine, today serves as the Palace of Justice. The Saint-Pierre Cathdral (12th Century) and the church of Saint-Hilaire-le-Grand (11th Century) add to the town’s Medieval splendour. Also worth visiting is the Futuroscope Theme Park.
