About Saint-Remy-De-Provence
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence lies in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, some 30 kilometres south of Avignon. This small town of about 10,000 inhabitants is widely considered one of the most charming corners of Provence, with its narrow ancient streets lined by beautifully restored old houses, picturesque squares, old fountains, cozy restaurants and trendy boutiques. The lush greenery of its countryside has been an inspiration to such renowned artists as Vincent Van Gogh, who created more than 150 paintings of Saint-Remy and its surroundings. History buffs should visit the excavations of the Gallo-Roman city of Glanum.
