About Amalfi
Lying on the Gulf of Salerno southeast of Naples in the region of Campania, Amalfi was an important maritime and trading power from the 9th to the 13th Century. Today, it is most remarkable for its dramatic scenery, being located at the mouth of a picturesque gorge, for its 13th-Century Cathedral believed to contain the relics of St. Andrew, the nearby Cloister of Paradise with its 120 columns in Arabic style, for its lively main square and small pedestrian streets full of cafés and tourist shops, and for its delicious Limoncello liqueur, made from the famous local lemons called “sfusato amalfitano”. Don‘t miss the opportunity to sample traditional specialties such as the fish soup and the torta caprese.
