About Riva del Garda
Lying at the northwest corner of Lago di Garda between Mount Rocchetta and Mount Baldo in the province of Trento, Northern Italy, Riva del Garda is a place of spectacular natural beauty that has been a popular tourist destination since the end of the 19th Century. In the past, it was favoured by Nietzsche, the Mann brothers and Kafka. Today, its two harbours attract water sports enthusiasts, and its famed wind is a joy for windsurfers. Riva, however, is also rich in historical and cultural heritage: the Palazzo Pretorio with the Apponale Tower, the 12th Century form that has been converted into a museum, the 16th-Century Venetian Bastion offering a stunning view of the town and the lake, and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta are well worth a visit.
