About Turin
Turin, alongside its rival forever, Milan, belongs to the Italian North. It's modern, prosperous, mixing the tradition of Italy's ancient history and the modernity of this Mediterranean country. That's why, perhaps, the city hosts the Winter Olympics in 2006. And as the world will turn its eyes to the sporting heroes next winter, it will also find a stunning city. In order to be frank, though, one has to admit Turin does not have that much of Italy's famed antiquity, or even the Middle Ages. Fortunately, the city's predominantly modern atmosphere does not make it one iota less interesting. Once a city leaning heavily on industries, of which Fiat is the primary example, Turin of today has turned more towards contemporary art and design.
