About Sibiu
Sibiu is located in the heart of the Romanian region of Transylvania. An important centre of culture and art, it offers a wide variety of tourist attractions. Architecture fans can admire the city's very fine 15 churches, including a 1386 temple in the Lower City, and several impressive Baroque constructions such as Brukenthal Palace and the Blue House. In the past, Sibiu boasted one of the most efficient fortification systems in the world, fragments of which can still be seen today around the city. The local ASTRA National Museum Complex, specialising in ethnography and folk art, is one the largest of its kind in Europe.
