About Albacete
Albacete is a large city in the Spanish autonomous region of Castilla-la-Mancha, located on a vast fertile plain. Although today it's a modern city, it has preserved some of its unique atmosphere of the past. The old houses along Tejares Street are fine examples of the traditional architecture of La Mancha. The most spectacular building in the area is the Gothic-Renaissance-Baroque Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Local restaurants serve excellent regional cuisine, including gazpacho, partridge and miguelitos. Ancha Street is the best for shopping, particularly if you’re looking for traditional craft items and antiques, such as knives and swords.
