About Leeds

Montague Burton opened the largest European clothing factory here, and started the city's biggest industry, which has been since then progressing in accelerated pace. The Waddingtons were also founded here, to make later the world-famous game Monopoly. Thomas Chippendale based his first factory and starting producing furniture in Leeds. The first Penny Bazaar that Michael Marks opened was again founded in Leeds.
