About Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough lies in northeastern England on the River Tees, just outside of North York Moors National Park. As an industrial city, it doesn't have very much to offer in terms of old architecture, but visitors can admire some interesting design solutions such as the terraced Victorian streets around the centre. Other impressive constructions include the Town Hall, the Empire Palace of Varieties, which once hosted performances of Lillie Langtry, the ultra-modern metal and fibre tower of Spectra-txt and the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, a spectacular project of architect Erick van Egeraat.
