About Salford
Located in Lancashire, Northwestern England, Salford belongs to the Greater Manchester conurbation, and is divided from Manchester by the Irwell River. Interestingly enough, Salford was one of the first British cities to become fully industrialised during the Industrial Revolution, shipping manufactured goods to all regions of the world. Today, the city’s main tourist attraction is undoubtedly the Quays area, which contains two of Salford's most significant landmarks. One of them is the Lowry Center, which comprises two historical theatres and an art gallery. The other landmark of the area is the Imperial War Museum North, remarkable for its bold architectural design. Besides that, Salford boasts a cathedral that is a fine example of Neo-Gothic architecture.
