Derry, situated in the west of the Northern Ireland province, is also known under its British name of Londonderry. The Irish part of its population tends to refuse the British equivalent. The old part of the city is entirely surrounded by walls. Interesting sights include the Foyle Bridge over the river Foyle, which is the longest construction of its kind in Ireland, with intriguing murals by the Bogside Artists. The Tower Museum has a fascinating Armada Shipwreck Exhibition, displaying authentic items recovered from the wreck of La Trinidad Valencera, which was sunk during a storm in 1588.
