Your travel to Bath

About seven miles away from Bristol, many years ago a beautiful city was born around the mineral springs in a charming part of England, before England even officially existed. The Romans, who first discovered the potential of the place, founded a city that was later called Bath, in 43 AD. Since then, Bath has been meeting visitors from different parts of the world to tell them stories about ancient times and great people, and also to offer the relaxing rehabilitation of its spa centers.

Back in history, the fame of Bath's spa declined during the dark years of the Middle Ages. But in the mid-18th Century, the city was rediscovered by Prince George, who started its revival as an urban and spa center. Most of the buildings in the city date from those times, when two centuries ago Bath hosted great writers, scientists and artists of the époque. The old Roman Baths are still a major attraction in the city center, together with the imposing Bath Abbey and the Georgian-style buildings, creating the overall ancient look of the city that has survived modern industrial urbanization. Still, Bath has the right modern touch needed to host visitors in comfort: its cafés, restaurants and clubs demonstrate the inspiration of modern business and artisan times in a harmonious way.

Bath is a city of many museums, sure to fascinate admirers of the everlasting. Here, on Gay Street, one of the most famous English writers ever used to live and get inspiration for her books. The museum of Jane Austen is hosted in the old townhouse where she spent part of her life. If you are interested in astronomy, then you must know the name of one of the greatest scientists ever, the discoverer of the planet Uranus, William Herschel. The house where the great scientist used to live with his sister has been transformed into a museum, where you can hear the story of his life and see the telescope he built by himself. Among Bath's other attractions, you will find the Museum of Costume, offering a fascinating collection of costumes revealing the evolution of fashion over the last 400 years.
