Etterbeek
Etterbeek has a prime location, close to both the centre and the forêt de Soignes, The commune is criss-crossed by prestigious boulevards such as the boulevard Louis Schmidt and boulevard Saint-Michel which connect to the European road network. With the whole of its area built up, Etterbeek was one of the first Brussels communes to start an urban renovation programme, recreating a real small village at the bottom of the chausée d'Etterbeek (the place Jourdan area). But descriptions of Etterbeek should also include the open spaces and cultural areas which are just as much prestigious landmarks at the heart of the commune: the Jubilee park and its museums, F.Hap park and the Fontenay-sous-Bois garden. Etterbeek also offers great shopping opportunities, for example in centres of bustling commercial activity such as "La Chasse", the rue de Tongres and Place Jourdan where a well-known market is held.
