4e: Marais
South part of Marais is just steps away from the city centre and the river Seine. The biggest attraction of this area is Centre Pompidou. It took its name from Georges Pompidou who was a French president in the seventies. At present this unique building houses Musée National d'Art Moderne (Museum of the Modern Art). In front of the museum many street artists gather everyday. There is also rue des Rosiers street in 4e. The street is considered as the centre of Jewish community and Jewish life in Paris. Two islands: Ile St. Louis and Ile de la Cité are in fact the oldest parts of the city. On Ile de la Cité you have to visit Notre Dame. It is one of the most famous churches worldwide well-known for its rich and interesting history. The church was constructed in the early Middle Ages and hasn’t changed much since then
