San Giovanni - Ponte Lungo
San Giovanni is an area situated 1 km southeast of the city centre and 500 metres south of Stazione Centrale. The most famous attraction of the district is Basilica San Giovanni in Laterano. It was the first Christian church in the ancient Rome founded in the IVth century by Constantine. At present the basilica is Rome’s cathedral. Battistero and Palazzo Lateranense are both situated next to it.
