Altstadt
Altstadt means 'old city' and includes the historic city centre of Munich. The heart of this area is a square called Marienplatz. Two interesting town halls: Neues Rathaus and Altes Rathaus stand next to it. Moreover, in the vicinity of this square you will find few old churches: Frauenkirche, St. Peter Kirche as well as the City Museum (Stadtsmuseum). Other tourist attractions are: Alter Hof, Hofbräuhaus and Viktualienmarkt (the old food market). If you move northwards a little bit, in a minute or two you will reach Residenz area that is full of monuments and museums. Nearby there is also a magnificent garden called Hofgarten.
