Giudecca
Giudecca is an island inhabited mostly by working-class people. The origins of its name are unclear. The word ‘Giudecca’ probably refer to the Jewish settlement. However it may have also originated from giudicato that was the word describing the exile of noble citizens on the island. The biggest attractions of Giudecca are: Santissimo Redentore church and the promenade that provides spectacular views of Venice and offers wide choice of restaurants and cafes. On Giudecca you will find three churches: Chiesa del Redentore (Santissimo Redentore), Chiesa delle Zitelle (Santa Maria della Presentazione) and Chiesa di Sant' Eufemia as well as two cultural hotspots: Teatro Verde and Nuova Icona Gallery.
