Baixa
Baixa is centrally situated in the historic part of Lisbon very close to river Tejo. Thus you will find Ferry Terminal in this area. There is an important railway station called Rossio. Baixa is also considered as the financial centre of Lisbon as the stock exchange building (Bolsa) is situated between Rua da Alfandega and Avenida Infante Dom Henrique. Famous square called Praça do Comércio is located next to it. In the northern part of Baixa you will find another square Praça dos Restauradores. It commemorates independence of Portugal as for many years this country was under Spanish reign. Other attractions of Baixa are: National Library and Sao Nicolau church. You should also see The Elevador de Santa Justa that was designed in Neo-Gothic style by Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard in 1902. Baixa is greatly linked with other parts of Lisbon by underground, bus and tram lines.
