As a dynamic city, with strong international character, Brussels provides an ideal setting in which learning foreign languages comes almost naturally. It is recognised as a bilingual city, the official languages being French and Dutch (a variety called Flemish in Belgium), although French is the most commonly spoken language for the the majority of the population.
