Toompea Castle



The Toompea Castle overlooks the city of Tallinn from the hill of the same name. It is a direct successor of the Medieval wooden fortress, which has been the core of the village that would later become Tallinn. In 1219, the Danes conquered the stronghold in one of the emblematic battles in the history of the Baltic states. Today the castle is not only an imposing tourist attraction, but also hosts the Estonian Parliament.
