Parks and Gardens in Venice
For most visitors, Venice owes its beauty to the combination of stone and water. Therefore it may come as a surprise that this city of some 150 canals still boasts a number of parks and gardens, which are perfect for quiet relaxation in natural setting. Many of these green areas used to be private estates of the city’s nobility and they include both tiny squares with surrounding trees and large open spaces. If time allows, it is worthy to explore the neighbourhood of Santa Croce where most of Venice’s parks are located. You will also find that numeours Venetian palaces have small adjoining gardens of unique charm.

The Royal Gardens of Venice have been a stable part of the cityscape since their creation during the rule of Napoleon in the beginning of the 19th Century. The idyllic park lies in the vicinity of Piazza San Marco, as well as all other tourist attractions and represents an ideal opportunity for relaxation in nature. The Royal Gardens are wonderfully maintained with alleys, pathways and benches that create an incomparable ambience. Many trees and rare flowers contribute to the unique charm of the garden.
