The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina was established in 1888, but the first plans date back to 1850. Since then the museum has been much more than simply a museum, but rather an influential cultural and scientific institution. The exhibits include thousands of ethnological, historical, geographical and archaeological artifacts. One of the highlights is the oldest Sephardic Jewish document in the world.
