Art Galleries in Berlin

Culture abounds in the German capital, with an assortment of art galleries that will not fail to impress the visitor. Indeed, Berlin constitutes a shopping destination for art collectors from all parts of the world. Many local galleries feature works of art by such European masters as Van Gogh, Picasso and Cezanne, to name but three. In the case of larger galleries, one needs a few hours to fully appreciate the scope and size of displayed collections. Several art galleries in Berlin have pleasant cafes as well as art and gift shops selling prints and postcards. Often, there are outdoor sculpture gardens in addition to indoor galleries.

Located on the 1st and 3rd floor of the gallery building on Zimmerstrasse 90/91 the upstairs berlin's target is to concentrate on contemporary art and promote the long-term development of artistic careers. The venue takes part at international art exhibitions and cooperates with multiple art galleries in Germany and abroad.

The Spandow Gallery is an exhibition venue for contemporary jewellery and wedding rings in Berlin, representing move than 40 leading Jewellery Designers from Europe. The site is a principal venue for the Berlin Gold and Silversmiths Association, includes the Spandow Gallery for Abstract Art, and also includes a small art theatre in the core of the Spandau Altstadt.

The gallery specialises in modern art, including works of experimental artists. It shows pieces of internationally famous artists as well as local, lesser-known. Thus, it has created an interesting collection. This gallery has existed from the mid 1990s. Many world-renowned artists were exhibited for the first time at the individual exhibitions at Arndt & Partner. The new gallery is very serious about developing its own style among other Berlin galleries and improving Berlin's role on the worldwide art market after German reunification.

This is an upscale gallery which displays diverse works of art, especially of British origin. Popular artists from Great Britain, such as Sara Lucas, have been presented during exhibitions in this venue.

The gallery has been one of the main representatives of DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service which has existed in West Berlin since the 1960s. Ever since its beginning the programme has supported many popular artists, including Daniel Buren, Mario Merz and Andrea Zittel.

The owner of the gallery used the rustic place to show his unique collection of contemporary art with many experimental works. Most of the exhibits on display are by artists of East German origin, including painters from Dresden. Some of them have taken part in ‘Documenta X’ exhibition thank to the support of the gallery.

Many different pieces of art are on show in this fascinating gallery. The items that most strike out the visitors are the examples of classical modern art, including fine works of surrealists. The gallery was initially established in 1958 in the city of Hannover. In 1982 it opened its current premises in the very heart of Berlin at Kurfuerstendamm 213. For as long as 49 it has displayed classic modern art, especially surrealism, and contemporary figurative exhibits of art by innovative painters and sculptors. The gallery's exhibition activities will end with the show ‘The Great Finale’.
