Art Galleries in Milan
With numerous art galleries of high reputation, Milan is a fabulous spot for art lovers. The two most famous galleries in the city, Ambrosiana Art Gallery and Brera Art Gallery, contain collections spanning centuries of artistic activity and feature masterpieces by some of the greatest painters of all time, such as Picasso, Matisse and Grassi, to name but a few. The Ambrosiana Art Gallery was opened in 1618, and was situated in the centre of Milan. It encourages young Italian artists who have just started their career. Since years the significant collection of art in the gallery has been extended, as the beneficial result of private donations. The most precious items of the collection are the painting by Leonardo da Vinci, various sculptures, and a plethora of portraits and works of great artists such as Botticelli. Bibliotecca Ambrosiana, famous library is also situated there.

The gallery was founded in 1923 and it is housed in the Palazzo dell'Arte, located next to the Parco Sempione. It was established to help develop the art in Italy. The Palazzo was built shortly soon after opening the gallery as a regular venue for the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts. Each year it organises exhibitions of art and other events, such as conferences or lectures on different topics.

The Brera Art Gallery is located in the north-eastern part of Milan and houses one of most significant art collections in Italy. It is situated in the late 16th-century palace, comprising 31 rooms, all of which filled with remarkable works of art. Situated in the Palazzo Reale in Milan, the Civic Museum of Contemporary Art keeps a really outstanding collection of art. There are works by notorious artists such as Klee and Picasso. The Casa degli Omenoni gallery is located in the centre of Milan. The building was constructed in 1565 by the brilliant sculpture Leone Leoni, who had an extensive collection of art, including paintings by such masters as Correggio or Titian. The eight telamones inside the building, sculpted in stone are very impressive and make one of main highlights of the beautiful house.
