Restaurants in Brussels

Brussels is regarded as one of the most cosmopolitan of all European cities, and so its restaurants serve both Belgian and world cuisine. You can have a taste of various European dishes but also oriental specialities. The most typical things to try though, are mussels, fries (necessarily with mayonnaise) and traditional Belgian chocolate. The more courageous gourmets should taste river eels in green sauce or turbot fish in cream and egg sauce and of course the Belgian waffle (gauffre) for dessert. Eating out in Brussels can be very pleasurable, with good food and wine, especially if you sit at a restaurant with a nice view, such as the restaurant at the top of Atomium – the most famous landmark in Brussels.
