Barcelona, as a international city with a great number of students and tourists, boasts a vibrant nightlife. You'll find here almost any kind of a bar or a night club with music that will suit all tastes, from jazz to techno. A good starting point is the gothic area of Barri Gotic as well as Las Ramblas, both centrally located. Numerous bars are also located in the northern part of the city – L' Eixample, although they are rather scattered. For warm summer nights bars located at the waterfront are a perfect choice. You can choose between Maremagnum, known also as a shopping area, and Port Olimpic, where you will enter an outdoor terrace free of charge, but sipping a drink will probably cost you more than in other places.
