Cinemas in Rome
The cinemas in Rome have improved enormously during the recent years, with numerous new multiplexes having been built and exisiting cinemas thoroughly renovated. In Italy, movies are almost always dubbed into Italian rather than shown with subtitles. Still, a few Roman cinemas do include English language films in their screening schedule. Apart from large, modern multi-screen cinemas, which mainly screen commercial movies, there are plenty of independent cinemas with an intimate atmosphere, such as The Greenwich, Il Labirinto and The Intrastevere. More romantic than the technology offered by multiplexes, a number of outdoor cinemas operate in Rome from July to September, showing popular re-releases. The most renowned of these is Cineporto, located close to the Olympic Stadium.
