Cinemas in Amsterdam
If you are in the mood to see a film in Amsterdam, there are about 55 movie theatres to choose from, most of them conveniently located in the city centre, close to the main sights, shops and nightlife. Amsterdam has both first run cinemas (screening regular films) and art-houses or filmhuizen which show less mainstream movies. Fans of art-house films and cult classics will feel at home at Rialto, Het Ketelhuis and The Movies on Haarlemmerdijk. All films are screened in their original language with Dutch or English subtitles, while movies for children are normally released to the cinemas both in subtitled and dubbed versions. Except for Uitkijk, every cinema in Amsterdam sells popcorn and a selection of hot and cold drinks, and The Movies has its own restaurant to boot.
