Owing to problems with noise pollution and due to several other factors, Venetian nightlife is rather calm when compared to other major Italian cities. A number of clubs tend to close long before you would want to head back to your hotel. That is not to say, however, that the city offers no opportunities for a fun night out. A large cluster of swanky clubs and discos is located in the areas of Campo Santa Margherita and Erbaria, west of the Rialto Bridge. Some of the trendiest nightspots can also be found near St Mark’s Square and on the island of Lido, where in the summer you can easily find yourself dancing next to a Hollywood star.
