Finlandia Hall is arguably the best known landmark of Helsinki. Situated on the shore of Toolonlahti Bay in the heart of the capital, the huge construction was built between 1967 and 1971 by the local architect Alvar Aalto. The most characteristic feature of the building is its blinding white exterior covered with first-class Carrara marble. Although the main function of Finlandia Hall is to serve as a concert hall, it has several smaller halls and facilities that
convert it into an important international congress and meeting centre.
