Prague, undoubtedly the most precious jewel in St Wenceslas' Crown, has already gained an incredible and fully deserved popularity among tourists. Known for its wonderful atmosphere, Prague offers  visitors a great variety of historical sights — the Old Town,  Hradcany Castle, St Vitus' Cathedral, Wenceslas Square, Charles Bridge and the National Museum are only some of the best known. After marvelling at monuments and historical sights, you can choose between numerous art galleries, theatres, nightclubs, or the many famous Czech pubs.

Indeed, pubs are an obligatory attraction on your Czech holidays travel schedule. Czech beer is recognised all over the world and it forms an important element of Czech culture. In  legendary Prague's pubs and inns you will have an opportunity to taste some delicious cold Pilsner. Drop in U zlateho tygra (‘At the Golden Tiger’) to see where Bohumil Hrabal and Vaclav Havel used to sit near a pint. Still, it's good to keep in mind that apart from beer, the Czech Republic — or more precisely the Moravia region — is famous for its excellent wine.

Besides Prague, there are of course other picturesque places  offering magnificent buildings, old towns, castles and monuments spanning several centuries. The Czech Republic is a paradise on earth for anyone  who is interested in architecture. Wherever you happen to be standing, you are never more than a few miles away from Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Art Nouveau, Cubism or Deconstructionist architecture. Worth visiting is the town of Brno – the second most important Czech city, the ancient Moravian capital.  Or take a trip to Olomouc or Liberec with its nice Town Hall and giant shopping and entertainment centre. The  pretty old town of Pardubice should be visited if you want to enjoy  world-famed horse racing — the Velka pardubicka steeplechase, run in October since 1874.

While in Czech Republic, don’t miss the many small, but picturesque and charming towns. You should see Bohemia - a charming region dotted with magic forests, old towns and castles, especially around Ceske Budejovice. Impressive castles and chateaux are to be found in Karlstejn, Konopiste and Cesky Krumlov. Another highlight, included in the  Unesco World Heritage list, is Kutna Hora with its splendid cathedral and ossuary. Lednice, a tiny town at the southern tip of Czech Republic, houses an impressive castle and enormous park.
