The Minister of Foreign Affairs said this Thursday, in Luanda, that the treatment of visas and the economic relationship between Angola and Portugal are third of the areas that improve the relationship between the two countries.
João Gomes Cravinho spoke to journalists on his way out of Foreign Affairs this Wednesday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte Antonio, in the Angolan capital, a country he chooses as his first destination for a bilateral visit, after taking office two years ago. weeks.
“For Portugal, and for me, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the relationship with Angola is and we want to stimulate it even more”, he declared, stressing that the only more than a diplomatic matter, the relationship between Portugal and Angola “is a matter for the peoples“.
In the meeting with António António, some of the most past aspects of the bilateral relationship were discussed and known to the magazine “caminhos” to achieve the objectives in the near future.
Among these, economic fields of the crisis of great origin by the pandemic, so the relationship “will be one of the great ones of work” for the two countries.
“Some issues that need more agility” were also identified, including visas and support for entrepreneurs.
“We need to improve, as an ambassador, the general treatment of visas, but especially visas here in Luanda. to create better conditions for the Portuguese to work not only in traditional sectors, but also in traditional areas of agriculture, tourism and energy”, said the minister, highlighting the “very significant” potential of Angola.
Gomes Cravinho also congratulated Angola on the way it has dealt with the president of the CPLP and indicated that in June there will be a ministerial meeting of the organization “to deal with some issues again”.
Questioning the policy in Angola, the head of Portuguese diplomacy said “it follows that throughout the world two countries, as the one that is most relevant to Portugal, is not the most relevant in the situation for the country, which is the “star of international relations”. ” of the two countries, such as the political, economic and human fields.
The Angolan Foreign Minister, Téte António, highlighted, for his part, “the symbolism” of this first visit of its counterpart to Angola.
“In all areas we want to develop a positive relationship with Portugal”, he reinforced.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs then left for the Presidential Palace, where he will be received this morning by the Angolan President, João Lourenço.
