Finding cheap accommodation is the most important thing you'll need to relieve the pressure on your budget. Rent  represents the largest monthly expense at an average of 250 EUR monthly. Of course, the amount of rent varies according to the type of accommodation and the place of study. Students with modest financial means are advised to choose a university in East Germany, where the rents are lower and student room costs less than a room or a flat on the open housing market. In cities and in  classic university towns finding cheap accommodation can be quite a difficult task, so begin your search early.
