| One of Rome’s premiere monuments is the proud Arco di Costantino, or Arch of Constantine. This triumphal arch was constructed in 315 AD as a commemoration of the victory of Constantine I over Maxentius at Milvian Bridge three years earlier. It’s the largest of only three structures of this kind which have survived in the Italian capital. Situated in the valley of the Colosseum, close to the Palatine Hill, it marks an important spot along the traditional route of triumphal processions.

| Milan’s premier event venue, Arena Civica, was designed in the neo-Classical style by the architect Luigi Canonica in 1805. It’s situated in the north-eastern corner of the Parco Sempione. It’s location was a deliberate choice – in close proximity to the reconstructed Castello Sforzesco, the Arena Civica was devised as a permanent ground for major festivities and celebrations. The arena was built using materials taken from the ruins of the castle. Modelled after Roman amphitheatres, it features an elliptic floor framed by four main gates.

| The Barovier Gallery is a fairy-tale of glass and colour, a dream that a girl from Genoa managed to make come true. The owner, Marina Barovier, founded her first gallery in 1980, and later moved it to a bigger place – its present location. Her collection of glass is one of the most impressive in the region, as she aims at presenting the best of Venetian glass art. But her most important merit is the love she has dedicated to reviving the traditions of Venetian glass-making. You'll see works by Vittoria Zecchin, Napoleone Martinuzzi, Ercole Barovier and others.

| The Basilica di San Marco is undoubtedly the most famous religious site in Venice, and at the same time a world-class tourist attraction. The majestic five-domed construction is one of the finest and best preserved examples of Byzantine architecture. The basilica is remarkable above all with its elaborately decorated facade and the huge surface of over 2 kilometres of extremely valuable mosaics in Byzantine and Gothic style covering the domes and the vaults of the temple. Since the beginning of the 9th Century Basilica di San Marco has been situated at Piazza San Marco, which emerged as a court in front of this holy place. The basilica is connected to the Doge's Palace and its magnificent appearance was meant to symbolise the wealth and glory of Venice in the Middle Ages. It is no accident that the basilica was nicknamed 'The Church of Gold' in the 11th Century.
