Asamblea de Madrid is one of the most significant judicial institutions in the Spanish capital. It owes its emergence to the territorial reform in Spain from the end of the 1970s. Then the so-called autonomic states consisting of self-governing communities were introduced. According to the Constitution of Spain, each of these states should have a one-chamber legislative assembly, i.e. Asamblea de Madrid, a Government Council and a High Court of Justice. The new assembly was officially inaugurated in June 1983 by Ramon Espinar Gallego. The operation process of the organisation incorporates three principles – autonomy, continuity and immunity. The assembly is presided by the Speaker, who collaborates with the other governing body – the Bureau. The organisational structure is completed by a number of functional units, such as the Plenum, the Standing Deputation and the Committees. is the national bank of Spain. Founded more than 200 years ago, the institution has always played a crucial role in the economic and social life in the country. The beginning was in the year 1782, when King Carlos III established the first modern bank in his kingdom, namely

. After numberless crises in the course of time, the bank evolved to National Bank in the end of the 1970s. Its main seat is in a magnificent building from 1884 in the heart of Madrid. The gold reserves are also said to be stored there, but unfortunately the bank is not open to the public.

The Spanish National Library is the biggest library in the country. It boasts almost 300 years of history – the roots of the first library can be traced back to the year 1711, when King Philip V founded the Royal Public Library. Since the very beginning of its existence, the library and its treasure have been constantly growing – in 1752 the collection of books comprised approximately 60,000 volumes, a century later the number increased to about 200,000 and now the catalogue includes the stunning 2 million books, 110,000 journals, 30,000 manuscripts and many other printed and multimedia documents. Some of the items are unique editions and are of extraordinary cultural importance not only for Spain, but for the world's history and literature as well. The CIMA, or Civil and Mercantile Court of Arbitration, was established in 1989 in Madrid. Its area of competence comprises civil and mercantile conflicts and more specifically their easy and mutually beneficial resolution. The idea of this court is to limit the red tape, indigenous to the standard judicial proceedings. The system of CIMA consists of a number of arbitration courts that should cover the whole territory of the country. Most members of this private court are highly experienced professionals of immaculate reputation. They come either from prestigious law companies, or from Corps of State Lawyers and Corps of Attorneys of the Council of State.

AEADE is a non-profit organisation dealing with arbitration and meditation proceedings regulated by the Law of Arbitration. The headquarters of the institution is in Madrid, but there are regional offices in most other bigger Spanish cities. The AEADE covers disputes and cases from all fields of economic and social life. Its structure is typical of this type of institutions – the General Assembly elects and supervises the main governing body, namely the Board of Directors. The other administrative units are distributed in three major areas – Office of the General Secretary, General Coordination and Financial Management.
